ALONG CAME MOCHA, a documentary

It was 1970  Mary Virginia Corbett created Mocha the Clown- a brown faced clown that would cater to black children. She later joined Clowns of America in 1971. While researching my mother's membership to Clowns of America, I discovered that it is highly possible that my mother is the first black professional clown in the state of Virginia. Hearing her story as a child did not resonate the way it does today. I decided to sit down with her to hear her tell the story. While in film school I completed a mini project, Along Came Mocha. This is the beginning of a full documentary about my mother, Mary Virginia Corbett, a black professional clown.
